Roof Top Tent Camping

Get elevated - get a roof top tent!

Roof top tent camping is a relatively new way of camping in New Zealand. They are basically tents that pop-up, or fold out while remaining mounted on top of a vehicle. We recently picked one up for adventures with the kids.

For us, it offered to opportunity to pack up with a moments notice, head off and be set up quickly, anywhere the truck could get us.

With two little girls in tow (or sneaky solo missions on a hunt) the roof top tent system means I can get 'camp' setup quick and focus on spending time with my partner or kids, or, get out stalking for elusive Sika!

Check out more about out system, some tips and tricks, and follow us on our journey getting ourselves, and more importantly, our two little girls, out into the wilderness to explore, learn and grow.

Feldon Shelter - #unfoldadventure

It didn't take much searching around online before I stumbled upon Feldon Shelter. I have to confess, I have also been lusting after a Land Rover Defender for some time, so while looking at local Defender pages, I also started seeing images with the roof top tent shelters setup on them.

Joel and Beth (the owners) have a distinctive aesthetic to everything they do, this is present in the imagery they use, their website and story and ultimately, their tent system.

It shows in the finish and the little details on the tent(s) - some of which I am still discovering.
